Here are a couple of things I've done with my forge: (1) Initial flattening of leaf spring for my WSK project. (2) Truing the handle and blade of my WSK blank so it can accept the bevel grind. (3) Close up of glowing handle. (4) Hand-forged Sgean Dubh without handle.

you guys are a bunch of enterpirzing fellas..KUDOS TO YOU ... i did pretty much the same as you fellas. i found an old hibatchi grill ..you know the type everybody and thier brother had one back in the day.. it already had propane element in it. i had a sack of fine type volcano rock i put all around it. mounted it up on an old buffer stand.
found an old chunk of stove pipe in the shed , you know the small stuff ..about 4 inches round..cut it down and resecured it with some sheetmetal screws... cut it down and shaped it to fit the air duct holes that are in the sides..it blows right into the coals real good... then i stole one of many of my wifes blow dryers and slid it into the other end and viola.. i had an old chunk of train track to use as an anvil and a pony sledge .. i found an old heat gun for for using on shrink wrap at a garage sale for 5 bucks and it works real good too. you dont have to worry about it overheating like the blowdryers..
beats spending 800 bucks at the ferriers shop for a portable propane forge...you can use old motor oil to quench with to if you dont mind the smell and or color.. hope it helps ..now if i can get my youngest son to leave it alone long enough for me to play with...kids whod a thunk it huh...lol

Hey, I've been asked to do a demonstration of my forge for a church campout in a week. Have y'all got any suggestions for me to take into the endeavor?

Make a list and be prepared. Want to make sure you don't forget anything. Maybe go through a dry run infront of your family for practice. Good luck!
